Rationale
The Bicol University Social Work Alumni would like to give recognition to outstanding alumni who have embodied the core values of our Alma Mater; have made an impact in the society from their practice of the Social Work profession; and have set as an inspiration and good example to the rest.
Mission
The Mission of the Alumni Awards & Recognition is to recognize BU Social Work alumni for their individual achievements, contributions to their industry and to the social work profession, service to the community, and loyalty to Bicol University.
AWARDS CATEGORY

Most Distinguished Social Work Alumnus – will be the highest award for an alumnae who:

has attained national and possibly international stature in the his/her chosen field in Social Work;

and has brought an honor and prestige to his/her Alma Mater
-
has set a strong example and inspiration for others

​​2. Professional Excellence Award - will be given to an alumnus who has excelled and shown exemplary performance and contribution in his/her chosen SW field of practice

3. Service Award - An award to be granted to early alumni retiree/s from five years back to give recognition for their service in the field of Social Work.
Not included in the nomination but names will be collected/ should be submitted to the Awards & Recognition Committee.
4. Posthumous Award - An award which will be given to an alumnus who has died while performing his or her duty as a Social Worker.

Who can be nominated?

-
a BS Social Work graduate from BUCAS and BUCSSP Campus.
-
a Registered Social Worker / Board passer
-
has an updated PRC license
-
is an active member of any Social Workers’ professional organization either local or abroad or of equivalent accredited organization (esp. those working abroad)
-
of good moral character (has not been convicted of any criminal or administrative case)
-
has a minimum of 3 years continuing practice of the profession in his or her chosen field of Social Work
-
Currently enrolled, or has finished Graduate studies (is a plus)
-
Received prior awards and recognition (is a plus)
-
Has publications, printed studies and the like (will be a plus)
Who is not qualified to be nominated?
All elected officers who compose the Executive Committee will be exempted while still holding their respective position.

Printing of Certificates and Plaques – 1st week to mid - April 2023

Process of Selection

PROCESS OF SELECTION
-
The Awards & Recognition Committee will post and receive online nomination via Google Form which will be available at the Alumni webpage
-
An individual can only be nominated in one award category.
-
Nomination will be accepted starting February 15 to March 15, 2023 only
-
Pre-selection will be held on the 3rd week of March 2023.
-
Background checking will be done by the Committee members.
-
The Committee with choose 4 nominees per category which will be submitted after to the Executive Committee for final selection but only one will be chosen.
-
In any case that that there will only be one nominee in a certain category, the screening committee will then determine if that individual qualifies based on the set criteria.

Chosen awardees will then be notified by the Executive Committee thru a formal communication and will be required to submit the needed documentations to the Awards & Recognition Committee.

The Awards and Recognition Committee has created a tally sheet to be used in the selection process
